Abstract: The country's Đổi mới (Renovation) process initiated and led by the Party since 1986 has brought about great achievements to the agriculture of Vietnam in general and that of the Northern Delta in particular. Specifically, the breakthroughs of the agricultural sector in the Delta are in boosting the rice production and the quantity of livestock and poultry. Important transformations in its rural areas and among the local farmers are somewhat stronger than those in the Mekong River Delta, which was in a better position when the Renovation commenced.
